Only FIVE MORE WEEKS of school left!!!!! I mean - only five more weeks with my precious students who I've come to love so much as I've taught them during the past two years. :(  It's quite bitter sweet ~ I'm very much looking forward to the break, but, I'm also very sad to close out this time with my students knowing that I won't see them again. I won't be here next year to see the many seeds I've planted grow or watch their lives be changed. I've started telling some students that I'm leaving and they're really sad. I have a long list of people I want to meet with one last time before the end of June.

And right on the heels of school finishing (July 11) is the BEGINNING OF SUMMER CAMP (July 10).  Our summer camp preparations are coming right along. Last I heard we had over 80 students signed up, but that was over a week ago. We're getting closer to our goal of 180 students! This summer I'll be teaching during camp. Summer camp is my favorite part of the whole year and a great opportunity to make contacts

This year, the work here has been much more difficult than last year. The students have been very distracted and disinterested. Three of my students have decided for sure to attend summer camp, and at least three more are still debating. I was so humbled to hear that they wanted to come because they knew that Shannon (the other teacher from our group that teaches them) and I would be there. In addition to that, three weeks ago another teacher introduced me to three girls who had attended the Thanksgiving party that I helped with back in November. It was so encouraging to meet them and talk with them!

I recently made another trip up North for two more English Corners. These trips are vital in building relationships with students up there in preparation for part of our team moving up there next year. Since I will be moving up there, I'm trying to build as many bridges as possible during the short times I'm up there.

The next five weeks will be quite full for me. I still have some lesson planning and handouts to make, in addition to piles and piles of grading that always creeps up at the end of the semester. And, not to forget those all important final exams. But, more importantly, I have two more Music club SAC's and another cookie baking activity on June 14.

I'm excited about what the next ten weeks or so will hold.

My Music Club is going well. The girls we have this semester, while being very kind and loving, are not very committed to coming every week which has made it difficult to build relationships with them for Mary Beth and myself, as well as for our co-workers. One week we had eight students and the next week we had seventeen. Still, there is one girl in particular that has developed a good relationship with one of our co-workers.
